Kupa
Early 2026 started receiving reports about a dog hanging around Jollibee. He was in terrible condition, covered in tumours, and nobody seemed to know where he had come from.
What puzzled us most was that we'd never seen or heard about him before. We asked around and posted online, hoping someone could give us more information, but nobody recognised him. People only knew that he had recently started appearing around Jollibee every night. Some even told us that he was beyond help and should simply be euthanised.
We named him Jolly Boy.
Victoria spent countless evenings trying to gain his trust and give him antibiotics to help with the infected tumours while we searched for answers.
Eventually, we discovered that Jolly Boy's real name was Kupa, and that he did in fact have an owner who had recently moved to the area. When Kupa had previously been taken to a vet for sterilisation, his owner was told that his condition was untreatable. Naturally, they believed the professional advice they were given.
But we weren't ready to give up.
With no chemotherapy options available in Coron, Kupa would need to travel to another island for treatment. Thanks to the incredible support of our donors, we raised the funds needed and got him to El Nido, where he spent more than two months receiving chemotherapy.
Today, we're incredibly happy to share that Kupa is cancer-free.
The dog that many believed was beyond saving has been given a second chance, and we couldn't be more grateful to everyone who helped make that possible. With a special thanks to El Rio y Mar.
